"To prevent all these inconveniences they have fallen upon an expedient which, as
it agrees with their other policy, so is it very different from
ours, and will scarce gain belief among us who value gold so much,
and lay it up so carefully. They eat and drink out of vessels of
earth or glass, which make an agreeable appearance, though formed
of brittle materials; while they make their chamber-pots and close-
stools of gold and silver, and that not only in their public halls
but in their private houses. Of the same metals they likewise make
chains and fetters for their slaves, to some of which, as a badge
of infamy, they hang an earring of gold, and make others wear a
chain or a coronet of the same metal; and thus they take care by
all possible means to render gold and silver of no esteem; and from
hence it is that while other nations part with their gold and
silver as unwillingly as if one tore out their bowels, those of Utopia would look on their giving in all they possess of those metals but as the parting with a trifle"

I'm Kiley Sanders. I have a 10 month old daughter. She will be 1 year on March 5, 2014. I have wanted to be a doctor since I was about 9 years old until recently. I have decided to study Forensic Science instead. I'm interested in the lab work Forensic Scientists are able to do. Aside from that I like to read, play with my daughter, Aria, and I'm obsessed with tattoos. I go to church every Sunday. My priorities are God, Aria, and school; in that order. Utopia, Ohio, is approximately one hour from Thomas More College, on US-52 near New Richmond. This particular utopia existed in two forms. First, from 1844-46, the community was known as the "Clermont Phalanx" and organized according to the utopian visions of Charles Fourier (1772-1837). After the failure of the Clermont Phalanx, the "individualist anarchist" Josiah Warren founded Utopia, a community whose economy was organized according to Warren's "principle of equivalents." Warren's principle made cost, rather than "value", the limit of price.

" The word cost is used in its most philosophical and most comprehensive and exact sense - Signifying the endurance of whatever is disagreeable."

"Fatigue of mind or body is Cost. Responsibility which causes anxiety is Cost. To have our time or attention taken up against our preferences -to make a sacrifice of any kind - a feeling of mortification - painful suspense - fear- suffering or enduring anything against our inclination, is here considered COST."

" If a barrel of flour cost its producers, carriers, and venders thirty hours' labor, then thirty hours of any other labor, whether with the hands or the mind, which was equally painful, disagreeable, or repugnant (if Wanted by the other parties), would constitute an equitable and legitimate price for the flour."
